Water Features

Waterfalls and Cascades

Waterfalls look and sound great but also have the added bonus of keeping the water oxygenated for any fish. If you keep the pump going throughout the winter it also stops the surface from freezing over which may be a problem for the fish and wildlife.

Whether it is a small courtyard spot or rolling acres, water can add another dimension to your garden. Safety should always the main priority and if young children use your garden they should be well supervised at all times if you have a pond of any description.

On the other hand you could always install a pebble fountain or some sort of cobble feature instead.

The restful sound of gurgling water has been recognised for centuries as a relaxing and soothing way to forget the stresses and strains of modern living.

The sound of water can also be a good way to disguise everyday noises that invade your garden. If your garden is within earshot of a busy road, the constant hum or traffic can be drowned out by a bubbling fountain. Your ear will tune in to the higher tone of the water splashing around instead.

There are many different ways of getting the water falling into the pond – from pipes to natural cascades, spouting brass fish to incontinent cherubs! You can design something that is sensitive to the surroundings or go for something that just makes you smile!
